Hello Everyone!! Happy Friday!
Today I want to share the first part of our photos from PARIS! Paris was our first stop on our long list of destinations this past summer. I've been dreaming of Paris ever since I was a little girl. I was always wearing some kind of accessory with the eiffel tower on it, watching movies set in the dreamy city and of course decorating my room in eiffel towers with a huge panorama of the city overlooking the Seine river on the wall. I guess the romantic in me always marveled at this magical city of romance, wondering what it must have been like in the 60's with stars like Audrey Hepburn strolling the cobblestone streets.
As cliche as it sounds Paris has always been one of my top destinations to visit, but somehow it kept getting pushed further down the list as we were exploring other parts of Europe. This summer we finally decided it's time to see some of France and it's beautiful cities with Paris being the first stop.
The little girl in the past only dreamed of one day going to Paris with the love of her life and walking hand in hand down the charming streets along the seine river and hardly believed that it would one day become reality. Going to Paris with my husband was definitely a dream come true!
The first day we arrived in the city we got ready and of course had to go see the eiffel tower! Seeing that immense tower of steel definitely makes a big impression. We sat on the grass in front of the tower and waited for the lights to twinkle as the sun went down. We almost lost hope that we would see the lights because we weren't sure what time they turn on and it was already dark. We started making our way back and as we got closer the twinkling lights lit up the tower. It was so so so magical! Seeing the enormous tower all lit up definitely exceeds your expectations. I was so so grateful to be able to be there and experience it all with my love! The next day we strolled along the Seine river, gazed and marveled at the beautiful architecture and monuments, and had some of the most delicious crepes and galettes.
More photos from Paris in the next blog post!
Have a wonderful weekend!
While we were in Poland we took a day trip with my brother and my nephew to hike to the top of the three crowns summit. The three crowns in the highest peak in the Pieniny moutain range in southern Poland. It's a beautiful hike up to the highest of the "crowns." From the top you can see the Tatry mountains, along with most of the Pieniny and the Dunajec river gorge. The view at the top was breathtaking and definitely worth the hike up.
The hike was a bit of a struggle for me as I haven't had much hiking experience back in Illinois ( thanks great plains. :D ) As my husband, along with my brother and nephew, and basically everyone else was zooming past me up the mountain, there was a point that I started to doubt if I'll even make it up. This hike was suppose to be a little "practice" before the Camino De Santiago Del Norte. (The 500 mile hike along terrain similar to the Pieniny mountains.) I guess you could say that getting up this hill was my first little hiking success of the summer. Who would have thought I'd be able to hike up so many more mountains and hills in the following months. ( But more of that to come in the blog posts about the Camino. ) :)
Going back to the beautiful landscape in the photos above... My heart will always be in Poland. The country with snowcapped mountains, rolling foothills and meadows, stretching evergreen forests, medieval cities, and so so so much more. I'm so proud to have been born in this beautiful country and even though I live on a different continent I will always call Poland home. <3
Have a great day!
